Dear readers,

It’s winter. And you know what that means? That it’s also cold season. Since a few years ago, I’ve decided to treat any minor cold using natural remedies only. And I precise minor because if 4 days later the symptoms didn’t decrease, and new ones appeared, it’s an appointment to the doctor really quick ! With that said, here are my 6 natural remedies against a cold :

1-DIY Vicks Vaporub

It’s safe to say that, now everyone, knows that a lot of products we use are not good for our health. So I try as much as I can to limit the damages by using natural or homemade products. Without any surprise our dear Vicks Vaporub which had been by our side, during all those sickened nights, has an unclean composition. Sorry to disappoint you.

But don’t be upset. If like me you love to do homemade things, I have something for your. After à lot of researches, I’ve finally found the easiest, cheapest and especially kind friendly recipe. Do you hear that? That the noise of victory, yes!

Thanks to Coralie from Peppermint Beauty, for this DIY special atchoum and my first remedy against à cold :

  • 1 tablespoon of Shea butter.
  • 1 tablespoon of coconut oil.
  • 1 teaspoon of beeswax or soy wax.
  • 4 drops of eucalyptus essential oil*.
  • 4 drops of ravintsara essential oil*.

-Melt the Shea butter, the coconut oil and beeswax or soy wax in a bain marie (put the ingredients in a contenant et then place it in a pot of boiling water.)

-Add the essential oils*. Mix, wait a little (not too long!) and transfer everything in a clean jar.

Coralie recommends to use 2 or 3 times per day.

*Essential oils are deprecated for pregnant or nursing women (unless otherwise stated). Also for the epileptics and asthmatics without an agreement from your doctor.

Those oils are forbidden on children under 3.

Essential oils can cause allergies, do an application test in the elbow crease at least 48 hours before using it.*

2-Inhalation with warm water + eucalyptus essential oil.

«Mommy are you going to put eucalyptus essential oil in our room? » ask my sickened kids, every night of their sickness.

Of course is my answer, because this essential oil is a lifebuoy in à ride of tissues.

Eucalyptus essential oil is from Australia. It has a fresh and invigorating smell. I love it. It also has antibacterial properties, antiviral and anti inflammatory. That made it a formidable ally to fight flu, cough, cold and it’s very efficient against tiredness.

Trying it—with the respect of the utilization rules—it’s adopting it.

For this second natural remedy against the cold, I use it by boiling ¼ of water in my kettle. Then I add 4 drops of the essential oil. It helps clear the sinuses of my poor children.

3-A special decoction.

There isn’t a time for a decoction. No ma’am, no need to wait 5pm to enjoy yourself while taking care of your body.

Whenever the cold occurs ; itchy throat, runny nose, I unsheath my ingredients. How to prepare this famous decoction full of good things, which is my kids favorite remedy? You’ll just need :
